BJJ: Brazilian Jujitsu
Brazilian Jujitsu became an art of its own in 1882 by integrating techniques of Kodokan Judo with that of jujitsu. Brazilian Jujitsu techniques are effective in enabling a smaller, weaker person to successfully defend and defeat a much bigger, stronger assailant by using the proper techniques. A good analogy of the sport is this: BJJ is like playing chess with human body parts, because to every move there is a countermove, and you must position yourself in a way that forces the submission of your competitor–checkmate!
Muay Thai
Muay Thai is an extreme combat sport known as “the art of eight limbs”. This sport is comprised of striking with both fists, elbows, knees, and shins. Warriors have used this fighting technique for centuries in Thailand.
It’s okay if you forgot your safety weapon at home: Your entire body is your weapon. Be confident in grave situations, knowing that both arms and both legs are loaded guns waiting to have the trigger pulled. If those who threaten you make the mistake of attempting an attack…they will be sorry.
Muay Thai is also called Thai Boxing and is considered the combat sport of Thailand. It’s history can be traced back to the 1500’s, integrating Siamese-style boxing in 1767. After that, the sport gained international recognition in the 1900’s as Muay Thai practitioners defeated many champions using other martial arts disciples in international competitions.
